Adenocarcinoma of Distal Common Duct and Ampulla Vater

Abstract
|

|
A case of carcinoma of ampulla Vater is herein reported and a few literautures are reviewed.
The patient, 49-year old Korean female, had been suffering from epigasric pain, anorexia, indigestion and constipation without having jaundice since the age of 14, off and on.
Preoperative diagnosis was chronic cholecystitis with stone. However the first operation yielded no calculus and did not relieve the preoperative symptoms. Thus second operation was undertaken under the diagnosis of retained common duct stone, during which the cancer was confirmed and modification of Whipple procedure performed.
The patient has been weel over a year at this writing.
Pathologic diagnosis was papillary adenocarcinoma of distal common duct and ampulla Vater.
